PAOK BEAT HAIFA

PAOK Salonika has defeated the Israeli club Maccabi Haifa in a Europa League match played at Toumba Stadium on Friday. PAOK won the match by a close margin of 3-2.

This was the second win for PAOK in the ongoing Europa League. With this win, they took their points tally to 7 in 3 matches and they are now at the top of the Group L points table.

PAOK hadn’t got off to a good start in the match against Haifa. They were down by 2 goals at one point of time, but, they came back in style and eventually managed to grab 3 points.

Despite the fact that Haifa lost the game, some of their players need to be given credit for the way they gave the home side a run for their money. Their goalkeeper Bojan Saranov was absolutely awesome. He made four great saves out of which two were penalties.

Haifa took the lead pretty early i.e. in the 14th minute of the match. Dino Ndlovu scored that opening goal for them. It was a flat shot which went into the right hand corner of the post.
Just a few minutes later, the visitors were ahead by 2-0. This time it was Eyal Golasa who latched on the opportunity created by Ruben Rayo and smashed the ball home.

In the 35th minute, PAOK earned a free kick and Lino was the man who took the shot. He placed it beautifully towards Miguel Vitor who didn’t make any mistake in finishing. The 24 years old Portuguese defender beat the opposition goalie with a brilliant header and made the score 2-1.

With just 6 minutes left in the first half, PAOK managed to level the scores. Ninis is the man who scored the leveller for them.

In the second half, things were looking pretty tight. Both sides were trying hard to go ahead and eventually, it was the home team which succeeded in doing that. Dimitris Salpingidis scored that match winning goal for PAOK in the 66th minute.
No more goals were scored in the match after that and PAOK ended up on the winning side.
