LIVERPOOL EYEING JANUARY SWOOP FOR MIDFIELDER

Merseyside giants Liverpool are reportedly keen on making a January transfer swoop for Olympiakos midfielder AguibouCamarawho will represent Guinea at the upcoming 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon. Camara is expected to represent Guinea alongside Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita at the AFCON tournament.

The interest of Liverpool in Olympiakos star Camara was revealed by French publication Foot Mercato as it was revealed that the Premier League heavyweights hold an interest in the player who can function well as a central attacking midfielder or as a wide attacking midfielder.

Camara, 20, has been able to establish himself in the Olympiakosfirst team squad at a young age on the back of his transfer from French champions Lille in the summer. The Guinean midfielder was part of the Lille team that won the French league last season ahead of Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and AS Monaco.

Since moving to Olympiakos from Lille in July, the Liverpool target has made 25 appearances for the Greek champions in all competitions netting five goals and four assists in the process.

Liverpool are not the only Premier League team keen on signing Camara. Apart from the Reds, new Premier League moneybags Newcastle United have also been touted as the possible transfer destination for the Guinean midfielder as they try to stay away from the bottom three on the Premier League log. The Magpies are currently two points off safety at the moment as they are second bottom on the league standings.

Due to his imminent participation with Guinea at the AFCON tournament, Camara might not be available for club football until February 2022 depending on where his country gets to at the tournament in Cameroon. The final group game for the Guinean is on January 18 and their campaign might extend beyond the group stage.
