GREECE: OLYMPIAKOS UP TO THIRD

Olympiakos have moved into the top three on the Greek Super League table after claiming their first big win of the new season. The defending champions of top flight football in Greece lived up to their tag as overwhelming favouritesin the home win over ApollonSmyrni. ApollonSmyrni were on the end of a 4-1 defeat at the hands of hosts Olympiakos.
Tiquinho scored the first of his two second half goals with two minutes on the clock before he edged Olympiakos 3-0 up with his brace on 70 minutes. Two substitutes then scored for the two teams as the home side maintained that three-goal lead until the final whistle.
Nigerian striker AbiolaDauda came off the bench to pull one goal back for Apollon on 79 minutes before Olympiakos achieved the same feat through substitute MariosVrousai. The goal from Vrousai restored the three-goal lead previously established by the record Greek Super League winners till the end of the game.
Olympiakos started the defence of their league title in the Greek top flight with a disappointing goalless draw at home to Atromitos. Since the draw, the Europa League campaigners have won three games in all competitions including the last two in the league.
The win over Apollon made it two straight wins for Olympiakos in the league and they are in the top three for the first time this term with three round of games played in the Greek top flight.
