Olympiakos take Greece Superleague
Olympiakos have won their 6th successive league title with a dominating season that has seen the team of Marco Silva winning 22 matches from their opening 24 games.
This is the 43rd piece of silverware that Olympiakos has secured in their history and even though this season has already been very successful for the Greek club, the manager of the team has revealed that he is aiming to win more titles as things are far from over.
This season of Olympiakos will surely go to the history books as one of the most memorable ones for any club in recent times as the Greek club went through a string of 17 successive league wins and this was the best start to a European season since 2000.
Marco Silva is the manager of Olympiakos and the Portuguese tactician outlined what he is still planning to accomplish with his squad as there are more pieces of silverware that he wants to secure.
"We are a very strong side and it's very important to win the league this early," said goalkeeper Roberto, who has conceded just 12 times.
"It's not as easy as it looks. I'm very happy and proud. Our season is not over, as we are aiming to win the Greek Cup again. I am very satisfied with this title. I want to thank my players, the club and the fans for their support. We were the best team by far. Our next objective is the Greek Cup." Marco Silva said after it was confirmed that Olympiakos had won their 6th consecutive Superleague Greece title.
The title battle had long been over, with Olympiakos the clear out-and-out favourites from as soon as two weeks into the season - it's a bit like when you bet on the favourites with StanJames - the result is fully expected, and often happens.
Olympiakos will be facing off with PAOK on April 7 for the Greek Cup and Marco Silva is placing a big importance on this upcoming match as he wants to continue the positive season which his team has been going through.
